Look at this face.
Isn't it sweet?
This is the face of Raleigh.
Raleigh is my 8-month old boxer.
He is a good boy. *Except when he isn't*
I love him very, very much.
Here's the thing.
We found out today that this face has fleas.
Fleas!
Gross!
Sick!
Gross!
*If everybody out there hasn't caught on...I hate fleas, bugs, snakes, and anything that is supposed to be outside that tries to occasionally come inside or take up residence on a living thing in my house.*
Cooper *the hubs* found out Raleigh has fleas today.
He was at work, minding his own business when one of his co-workers said,
"Hey, man, you have a flea on you! It's probably just our place of work"
They then chuckled. *Although, this does make me wonder about where my husband drives off to early in the mornings. We might need better insurance*
Then Cooper got to thinking..."Hmmm...I wonder if it's our dog..."
And that's when he knew.
A few weeks ago we started noticing these weird bites on Raleigh.
We concluded that it must be the mosquitoes.
After all, it is the humid summer.
And Raleigh is a dog who likes to romp in the tall grass called our backyard.
But this past week Cooper made the observation that the bites weren't really healing.
Then we got to discussing...
Maybe Raleigh has some weird genetic disorder
Or maybe it's his food.
Or maybe we need to take him to the vet.
Or maybe our knitknack pattywack give a dog a bone hound has contracted fleas!
So, tonight we bathed the dog with flea and tick shampoo.
We put on his Frontline flea and tick medication.
We gave him his monthly Heartguard 2 weeks early.
We vacuumed.
We sprayed the house with bug juice stuff.
We washed Raleigh's crate, bedding, and anything he remotely touches on a daily basis.
The only thing that would be more involved was if he was an elementary school child who had contracted lice.
Ew, Lice!
On the positive: I am so grateful I get to clean up the fleas. Because I really do love this dog!
...until next time...
